NEWS RELEASE: On Sunday, July 20, Hospice of Yuma experienced water damage due to an intense rainstorm. Both the main office and Thrift Store buildings were affected. Due to the amount of damage, there will be some operational changes at the Hospice of Yuma office and Thrift Store. The Thrift Store will be closed for an estimated three to four weeks to repair storm damage in the main part of the building. Luckily, our new furniture showroom only had water on the floor, which was quickly removed. We have temporarily moved operations of the main office to the conference center next door for the time being. Due to damage, we are not able to offer our Wig Program. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. We are working diligently to clean up, make repairs and return to normal operations. We will provide updates on progress made as it becomes available. Choosing a Hospice
With multiple hospice agencies in the area it is important to make the best choice for your loved one. The following are important questions to ask when choosing hospice services:
• Is the hospice organization non-profit, fulfilling patients’ needs as its priority, or is it for-profit, ultimately placing investors needs as its top priority?
• Does the hospice have a full-time physician on staff, Board Certified in Palliative Care Medicine who makes home visits?
• Does the hospice have respite contracts with all long-term care facilities in the area to ensure choices?
• Does the hospice have contracts with the local hospital and long-term care facilities to provide acute in-patient hospice services when needed?
• How long has the hospice organization provided services in the area?
• What type of reputation does the hospice have in the local medical community about the quality of services provided?
