Hospice Physician

Dr. W. Michael Shea attended the University of Utah School of Medicine, graduating in the upper 10% of his class. Dr. Shea’s post-graduate training took place at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA, where he completed a general medicine internship, a residency in internal medicine, and a fellowship in medical oncology and hematology.

Afterward, at the Harvard Medical School Joint Center for Radiation Therapy, Dr. Shea completed a second residency in radiation oncology. His extensive experience qualified him to become board-certified in hospice and palliative medicine, his fifth and final specialty board certification, in 2010.

Caring for people with serious life-threatening illnesses is his greatest passion. Having already contributed so much to the Yuma community, Dr. Shea is helping lead Hospice of Yuma towards a bigger and brighter future as our full-time Medical Director. Dr. Shea believes that caring for people who are nearing the end of their lives is among the greatest of callings and he provides the best and highest quality of care to all of our hospice patients and their families.
